HP Officejet 4650 Setup and Install

HP OfficeJet 4650 is a multifunction printer capable of printing, scanning, copying, and faxing. It also supports duplex and AirPrint features. If you want to set up your HP Officejet 4650 printer for the first time, consider the steps below.

Initially, take out the printer from the product box and then connect the power cable. Set the control panel preferences to operate the printer and load enough paper. Once you have loaded the paper and adjusted the edge guides, install the ink cartridges carefully one by one. With this, the hardware setup of the printer will be done and you can install the printer software on your computer.

Now, start by following the detailed procedure given here. First, unpack the printer. The printer accessories may vary depending on your country/region. Check the package to verify the items shipped in the box. Remove the printer from the packaging box and remove all the tapes, stickers, and packing materials from the printer. Now, remove the printer from the packaging box. Remove all the tapes, covers, and packing materials from the outside of the printer. Remove the sticker on the control panel of the printer.

Gently hold the handles on both sides of the printer. Lift the ink cartridge access door and make sure that it locks into place. Now, remove all the tapes and packing material from the inside. Close the ink cartridge access door, then raise the input tray door. Extend the paper tray and remove the packing tape. Close the input paper tray and make sure the packing materials are recycled.

Now, you can connect the printer to a power source. Turn on the printer and set the required preferences. If you are connecting the printer and computer using a USB cable, you can connect them at the time of software installation when prompted. As of now, select your language and country/region. When prompted for confirmation, select Yes. Set the date and time and select Yes to confirm your choice.

Open the input tray to load the paper. You can load plain U.S. letter or A4 paper into the input tray. Extend the paper output tray. Adjust the paper width guides by sliding them outwards. Align the paper stack and fan them well before loading in the input tray.

Insert the ink cartridges carefully one by one and close the ink cartridges. Raise the ink cartridge access door until it locks into place. The carriage will move to the left. Once the carriage is idle, carefully unpack the ink cartridges and remove the plastic tape from the ink cartridges. Make sure not to touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Press the ink cartridge into the slot and wait until it snaps into place. Close the cover on the ink cartridge slot to fix the ink cartridge into place. Close the lid. The slot for the color ink cartridge is on the left side and the black ink cartridge on the right. Close the ink cartridge access door.

Now, print an alignment page. On your printer’s control panel, touch Setup followed by Tools. Then select Align Printer. Once the alignment page is printed, use it to align the ink cartridges. Open the scanner lid and place the alignment page on the scanner glass with the printed side facing down. Close the scanner lid and then press the OK button on the printer control panel. The printer will now align the ink cartridges.

After completing the hardware connections, you can install the printer software on your computer. Make sure not to connect the printer and computer until prompted. Go to the official HP website from your browser. Navigate to the Support page by choosing your region. Enter the printer model number and hit the Enter key. Click on the Download button next to the required software. Run the downloaded file and continue with the on-screen instructions to install the software. Once the HP Officejet 4650 setup has been done, print a test page to make sure that the setup is fine.
