How to Remove HP Printer Driver 'Malware' from Mac

 If your Mac doesn't have malware and the HP printer driver mistakenly shows malware, you can continue with the steps given below to remove the HP printer driver malware from your Mac computer. HP and Apple are continuously working together to resolve the issue. HP is working with Apple to restore the drivers. If you are facing such issues, first, uninstall the HP driver. You can try using the AirPrint driver to print from it. 


Uninstalling the HP Printer Driver:

To start with, open the System Preferences window and click the Printers & Scanners link. Select your printer from the displayed list. Now, click on the '-' sign at the bottom-left corner of the screen. Go to the Finder window, enter ~/Library/Printers/hp in the folder path. Click on the Go menu and select the Go to folder option. Otherwise, press the Command + Shift + G buttons together. 


Locate the printer driver drag it to the Trash folder. Remove the old printer driver and add your printer again to remove the HP printer driver malware from your Mac computer.


Reinstalling the HP Printer Driver:

Once you have uninstalled the HP printer driver, you can reinstall it. Go back to the System Preferences window and click the Printers & Scanners option. Now, click on the '+' icon at the bottom-left corner of the screen. You can now re-add the printer. You can select the HP brand and choose your printer model number. You can also reinstall the printer driver from the official HP website. Navigate to the Support page and enter the printer model number. Hit the Enter key. You can install the HP Smart driver from the App Store. Once you have reinstalled the driver, the HP printer driver malware will be removed from your Mac computer.
