 The HP Officejet Pro 8710 printer supports wired (Ethernet), wireless, USB, and Wi-Fi Direct interfaces. It uses black, cyan, magenta, and yellow ink cartridges to deliver excellent print quality. This page contains detailed steps to set up your HP Officejet Pro 8710 printer for the first time. 


Unpack your HP printer

The first and foremost step to set up your printer is to remove all the packing materials and tapes from the outside of the printer. The printer’s control panel is covered by the film that should be removed. Also, you have to clear the packing materials from the inside of the printer. This can be removed by opening the scanner lid. You are advised to recycle all the packing materials once removed. 


Turn on your HP printer

Use the power cord available in the printer box for connecting the printer’s rear port to an electrical outlet. Once the printer is connected to the power supply, it turns on automatically. If it does not, locate the Power button and press it. As soon as the printer turns on, you can see a prompt message on the printer’s control panel for the initial settings. You have to set your preferences correctly. The initial settings include language, country/region, date, and time. In the end, you have to confirm your choices.


Load paper into the printer’s input tray

Locate the input tray and pull it out from the printer. If you see the packing materials, remove them. You can load plain U.S letter or A4 paper into the input tray. Most importantly, the paper’s print side must face down in the input tray. After loading the paper, place the input tray into the printer.


Install the ink cartridges

The next step in the HP Officejet Pro 8710 printer setup is the ink cartridge installation. For this, you have to raise the ink cartridge access door. Now, the carriage inside the printer starts to move. Wait patiently until it stops moving. Take the ink cartridges that are available in the printer box and unpack them. Place them correctly in their slots and lower the ink cartridge access door. After installing the ink cartridges, wait until the initialization process is completed. If you hear a sound, it is normal for the printer to make noise while initializing. Once this process completes, the HP printer prints an alignment page automatically.


Install the HP printer software

The last step in the initial setup of the HP Officejet Pro 8710 printer is software installation. The recommended HP printer software is available on the manufacturer website. Access it and download the printer software. Keep in mind that you have to download the most recent version of the printer software. Locate the downloaded file in the Downloads folder, then run it to begin the installation. You have to establish a connection between the HP Officejet Pro 8710 printer and your computer only when prompted in the setup wizard.
